Carrots are cheap, tasty and nutritious and this simple recipe is an easy way to cook them, so they are fork tender inside and still full of goodness.
For this recipe, we used four large carrots cut into carrot sticks, enough to serve six people as a side dish.
But you can adjust the amount based on how many people you serve.
Peel the carrots and cut them into even-sized segments so they will cook evenly.
If using baby carrots, there is no need to peel or cut them.
Olive Oil
When you toss carrots in olive oil, it adds richness to the flavour and helps brings out the sweetness of the roast carrots.
You could use other oils, such as vegetable oil, avocado oil or melted butter.
If looking for a lighter option using a spray oil is a healthy alternative to oil.
Seasonings
Different seasonings can be added to roast carrots. Here are a few ideas.
Salt and Black Pepper
Add salt and pepper, for the most simplistic of seasonings for air fried carrots. Add any of your favourite dried herbs to carrots at the same time.
Garlic powder
An intense flavour booster this savory version adds a hint of garlic without overpowering the carrots. You only need a little sprinkle about ⅛ - ¼ of a teaspoon.
Chilli Flakes
Adds spice and heat to the roasted air fryer carrots, can be adjusted according to your taste preference.
Maple Syrup
To create a delightful sweet version of air fryer carrots, simply add maple syrup! This is a great way to get kids eating veggies.
This gives the carrots a caramelised, golden-brown finish. Mix with the olive oil before adding the carrots to ensure a even coverage.
A sprinkle of brown sugar or honey can be used the same way as maple syrup for an extra sweet flavour to cooking carrots in air fryer.
Fresh herbs
Fresh herbs are great to add to the cooked carrots. Finely chop fresh parsley, thyme or rosemary and sprinkle on top after the carrots are cooked, before serving.
