- pinch Salt and Pepper
- 4 slices Bread

- 1 tablespoon Butter
Optional Extras
- 1 tablespoon Fresh Parsley - chopped

Instructions
- In a wide, shallow dish/bowl (large enough to fit a slice of bread), lightly beat the 3 Eggs and 75 ml Milk together. Add a pinch Salt and Pepper

- You can add any optional extras, such as fresh or dried herbs or spices. We chopped 1 tablespoon Fresh Parsley and ¼ teaspoon Chilli Flakes to add flavour.
- Make a cheese sandwich by placing 6 slices Cheddar Cheese between the 4 slices Bread.
- Melt the 1 tablespoon Butter in a frying pan over medium/low heat
- Dip both sides of the cheese sandwiches into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s soaks on both sides.
- Place the eggy bread in the pan and fry on one side until golden brown (approx. 4 minutes)
- Flip using a wide spatula and repeat on the other side, (approx. 4 minutes).
- Make sure the cheese has melted inside.
- Serve immediately. Enjoy!

Ingredients in Detail
With just a handful of ingredients, this recipe transforms simple bread and cheese into a golden, cheesy delight that’s easy to make and packed with flavour. Specifically, Cheese Eggy Bread needs some high-quality ingredients to taste its best.
Eggs
Use free-range eggs for the best flavour and a rich, golden colour. If you prefer a fluffier texture, whisk them vigorously to incorporate more air.
Milk
Whole milk adds richness, but semi-skimmed or plant-based alternatives (such as oat or almond milk) work just as well. For an extra indulgent version, try a splash of double cream in your Eggy Bread with Cheese.
Seasoning
We add salt & pepper and fresh chopped parsley. This adds a fresh, herby lift. If you don’t have parsley, try chives, coriander, or basil for a different flavour profile. The fresh herbs truly enhance the flavour of Eggy Bread with Cheese.
You can also add a touch of heat from chilli flakes or smoked paprika.
Cheese
We used cathedral city mature cheddar to give a strong, tangy flavour, but feel free to switch for a milder cheddar to suit your taste, try mozzarella for extra stretch, gruyère for a nutty taste, or Red Leicester for a vibrant colour.
Bread
A thick-cut white bread is what we have used but sourdough or wholemeal works well, as it holds up well when dipped in egg. Avoid very thin and soft bread, which may fall apart. The right bread choice is crucial for making delicious Eggy Bread.
Butter
Butter gives the bread a rich, golden crust, but you can swap it for olive oil or spray oil for a lighter option or a garlic-infused oil for extra flavour.

Storage
Cheese Eggy Bread is best enjoyed fresh, but if you have leftovers keep them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days.
Reheating
Reheat in a pan over low heat for a few minutes until the cheese remelts, or in the oven at 180°C until warmed through. Your Eggy Bread will then be ready to enjoy again.
