Ingredients in Depth
The secret to baking the best giant cookie is using the right ingredients. Each ingredient is crucial in achieving that chewy, buttery texture with a crisp edge and soft centre.

Sugar
A mix of granulated and light brown sugar gives this huge cookie a chewy yet slightly crisp texture. Brown sugar adds moisture and a hint of caramel flavour.
Butter
Using real butter instead of margarine creates a rich, buttery flavour and a soft, chewy texture. Make sure to start with softened butter at room temperature. Do not melt the butter to soften it; it will change the cookie texture.

Eggs
Eggs help bind the cookie dough together, giving it structure while keeping it soft and tender.
Vanilla Extract
A small amount of vanilla extract enhances the overall flavour.
Self-Raising Flour
Using self-raising flour ensures your giant cookie bakes up light and thick. If using plain flour, you will need to add baking powder.

Chocolate Chips
You can use milk, white, dark, or a mix! We love combining different types for a balanced flavour and melty chocolate in every bite.

Equipment
You don’t need fancy tools to make this giant cookie recipe, just a few basic kitchen essentials. A cake mixer is the quickest way, but if you don’t have one, you can cream the butter and sugar by hand using a wooden spoon or spatula.

The most important piece of equipment? A large 32cm pizza tray—this is what gives the cookie its classic pizza shape and ensures it bakes evenly.
You may need to adjust the baking time slightly if using a different tray.
Make sure to line the pizza tray with parchment paper. Use small spread off butter to stick the parchment down.

This prevents the cookie dough from dripping through the little holes. It also makes it easier to remove from the tray in one piece once cooked!

Adding more chocolate chips before putting the giant cookie in the oven ensures they are set on top for the best-looking cookie!

Cooking Time
Baking times can vary slightly depending on your oven and the size of your tray. Our giant cookie recipe is designed for a 32cm pizza tray, and we recommend baking it for 35 minutes at 150℃ fan / 170℃ conventional / 350℉.

Since the outside will always bake faster than the middle, don’t be alarmed if the centre is softer than the outside when you take it out—that's normal and actually the best bit! The cookie will continue to set as it cools, giving you that chewy, gooey middle cookie everyone loves.

If you're using a smaller or larger tray, you may need to adjust the baking time. A smaller, thicker cookie may need a little longer, while a larger, thinner one will bake faster.

Keep an eye on it towards the end of the baking time and remove it when the edges are golden brown but the center is slightly soft for the perfect texture.

Allow to cool slightly before removing it from the tray to allow it to firm up a little.

Serving Suggestions
Birthday Cookie – Decorate with icing, chocolate frosting, sprinkles, or pipe writing on to make it look like a giant Millie’s Cookies-style birthday cookie.

Cut into Wedges – This pizza cookie is thick and rich, so you might want to cut smaller slices than you would for a pizza.

Warm with Ice Cream – The best way to eat this giant cookie is warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream melting over the top! If it has already cooled reheat in the microwave or oven.

Add Extra Toppings – Drizzle with our quick and easy chocolate sauce or homemade salted caramel sauce.
Storage Advice
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
Reheating
If you want that freshly baked, warm cookie slice back after it's cooled and stored, you can warm individual slices in the microwave for 10 seconds to make them soft again.
