4Apples - cored and chopped4 Bramley cooking apples or 6 regular eating apples can be used
200ml(1 cup) water 100 ml (½ cup) for a chunky sauce. 300 ml (1 ½ cup) for a smooth puree.

13"Cinnamon stick or ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamonor try a vanilla pod, ¼ teaspoon nutmeg or ginger instead
150grams(¾ cup) Granulated sugarOptional (add none or less to your desired sweetness) See Notes for other ways to sweeten.
1tablespoonLemon juiceOptional, for extra tartness, to make last longer and maintain nice fresh colour.
Instructions
Place chopped apple into a saucepan with the water and cinnamon stickBring to a boil then turn the heat down to simmer for 15 minutes
Remove from heat. Take the cinnamon stick out and mash the apples up into desired texture. Use a masher for chunky or thick. Use a blender to turn it into an apple puree with no lumps.
Taste test, if not sweet enough, add a tablespoon at a time of sugar, keep adding, until at the desired sweetness. Then add lemon juice.
Return to low heat and simmer for a further 5 mins, until the sugar has dissolved. Serve and enjoy!!

How to store Homemade Apple Sauce?
Store in old jars, before using an old jar and lid, make sure to wash thoroughly and leave to sit in boiling water for 15 minutes to sterilise it.
How long does Apple Sauce last in the fridge?
Can be kept in the fridge sealed in a jar for up to 10 days.
Can you freeze Apple Sauce?
Freeze in large ice cube trays, for perfectly proportioned sizes.Once frozen remove from tray and keep in a freezer bag, defrosting small portions overnight in the fridge when needed.This is perfect when weaning a baby, as they only want tiny portions at a time.Store frozen for up to 3 months.
